Checking your Instagram account type:
How to check your profile type:
- Open Instagram and go to your Profile.
- Tap the Hamburger Menu (3 horizontal lines) in the upper right corner of the app or bottom left of desktop.
- Head to Settings.
- If you currently have an Instagram personal profile, click: Switch to professional account (near the bottom of your screen in blue.)
- For Lately to connect, you’ll need to convert your personal account to a professional account. When you click the link you'll have the option to select Business or Creator. Follow the on-screen prompts and once finished you now have a Professional Instagram account that needs to be linked to a Facebook Business Page.
- Alternately, if you currently have an Instagram professional account, you don’t need to do anything else in Instagram.
How to Link our Facebook Business page to your Professional Instagram Account
- Log into your Facebook Account and locate and click on the Flag icon for Pages, usually located on the left hand side of the screen.
- Select which page you want to open.
- Once on page, go to circle icon (upper right corner) and click to bring up a the dropdown menu.
- Select Settings & Privacy and then select Settings.
- Under Settings on left side of the screen, select Linked Accounts.
- If your Instagram is already linked, you are good to go and you can log into Lately to connect your Instagram account.
- If not, click on the blue Connect Account button, follow the prompts, and you'll have an Instagram connected message on screen. Click done and you can now log into Lately to connect your Instagram account.
If you do not have a Facebook Business page, you will need to create one.
- Log into your Facebook Account.
- On your feed click the a Flag icon for Pages.
- Underneath the word Pages, click + Create New Page.
- Follow the prompts and fill-in all required fields.
- Once page has been created, go back to your feed and follow the instructions from above to link newly created Business page to your Instagram.
